Thirty-six metres of shallow depression remain where Sallypark once circled the sky. The fort stood through Napoleonic wars, two world wars and every cartographer who bothered to draw it, then vanished under a plough in 1974. The land keeps its shape in cropmarks and soilmarks, refusing to release the circle even when human hands destroy it. What was built there, who lived there, why they chose that slope, all gone. The earth remembers what people forgot, holding the ghost of a wall no longer visible but still measurable in the way grass grows and shadow falls.

In tillage, on gentle S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps; hachured as circular area enclosed by fosse on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Levelled, according to local information, c. 1974; shallow circular depression (diam. c. 36m) marks site. Circular enclosure visible in aerial photograph (CASAP) as cropmark of fosse and in second aerial photograph (GSIAP, R649) as soilmark of bank.
