Marianne and I climbed the steep path to Roughgrove West, where a hidden ringfort overlooks Wright's Glen. We crossed the narrow eastern gap and walked the overgrown circle, imagining the people who shaped the earth and watched the valley below. Marianne touched the bank as if testing whether it still remembered heat from human hands.

In commanding position above Wright's Glen. Circular, heavily overgrown area (34m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.3m), with silted-up external fosse. Gap in bank (Wth 3m) to NE. Ó Ríordáin (1932, 100) noted 'an earthen mound' in the interior; no longer evident. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
