Fairy forts are human origins, often misread. This is a ringfort in Rossbrien, County Limerick, shaped as a low earthen platform about thirty metres across. It sits on a hill above pasture, partly hidden by thorns, but its edge still cuts the grass like a forgotten boundary. People may have lived, buried, feared or fled there before the fairies entered the story.

Situated atop a low hill in rolling pasture and meadow. The monument is indicated on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a sub-oval platform (diam. c. 30m NE-SW by 20m NW-SE) defined by a scarped edge from NNE to SSW. The monument is heavily masked by scrub vegetation of bramble and thorn and was not accessible at the time of inspection in 2004. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 28 February 2013
