Fairy forts are misnamed. They are human ringforts, circular defences where ordinary people lived, fought and died before the legend arrived to cover the truth. Rathmorrel is no longer visible, but it was real enough to be drawn on the 1842 map and erased from the later one. The field corner keeps its shape in air and memory long after soil and stone have given way.

Situated in the corner of a field and lying NE of KE014-037---- & KE014-038----, this circular enclosure is marked on the 1842 OS map but does not appear on the later edition. A slight trace of this site can be seen on the Geological Survey of Ireland's aerial photographs, but no surface trace remains today. The above description is derived from C.
