Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Rathkenny is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Rathkenny, County Tipperary, Ireland. Its much denuded oval area measures 46 metres west-northwest to east-southeast and 40 metres north-northeast to south-southwest on a steep south-southwest-facing slope. A bank and deep ditch follow the northern arc; both continue in reduced or backfilled form around the east and south. The source also records possible remains of an outer bank at east-southeast.
In improved pasture, on a steep SSW-facing slope, just S of a 400ft contour. A much denuded oval area (dims. 46m WNW-ESE; 40m NNE-SSW) defined by earthen bank (overall Wth 7.5m; Wth at top 2.4m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.4m) WNW-N-ENE, reduced to levelled scarp (Wth 3.6m; H 0.5m) ENE-E-SSW; a deep, wide fosse (overall Wth 5.85m; basal Wth 2.5m; D 1.2m) WNW-N-ENE, which has been backfilled, yet traceable (overall Wth 7.6m; basal Wth 2m; D 0.15m) from ENE-E-SSW and the possible remains of an outer bank (overall Wth 8m; Wth at top 3m; int.
