Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise, in pasture, with commanding views of the surrounding landscape. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 27m) enclosed by a scarp, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The outer bank is present from SE-S-WNW and merges with a field wall at E. The interior of the earthwork is uneven whereby some stones project from the surface across the N portion and quarrying has disturbed the S portion. A depression runs inside the scarp from N-NE and then turns S towards the centre. Outline of levelled monument visible today as a earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 08 November 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
