No visible gap remains in the earth, yet the missing entrance implies a deliberate choice about who could enter and when. The fort is not a vague fairy tale; it is a made place where someone shaped a ridge into a room large enough for life and strong enough to exclude others. The fairies belong in the story people told later, not in the judgment of what the builders did.

Situated on the N-facing spine of a N-S drumlin ridge. This is a grass-covered circular platform (diam. 34.5m N-S; 32.4m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 3.3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 2m) SW-NW, which is reduced to a scarp (Wth 2.4-3m; H 1.8-2m) elsewhere, with a fosse which is best preserved (at W: Wth of top 4.2-5.8m; Wth of base 1-2.2m; ext. D 0.6-0.8m) S-W-N.
