Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Poundquarter

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marianne and the unknown man still circle Poundquarter, turning a ordinary field into a chamber where forgotten facts return. They are not invaders; they are the memory the land refused to lose. When someone stops pretending the world is flat, the chamber opens and shows what it has been holding.
In tillage. Indicated as dotted circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; low undulations in field. Abuts another possible ringfort (CO065-01301-) to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
