No stone or soil marks the fort now, yet both maps drew a circle wide enough for a dozen people to stand inside. The first map used shadows to show height; the third used a solid line, as if certainty had replaced guesswork. Between those drawings, the earth forgot its own shape.

On a W-facing slope in mixed farmland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure: on 1st ed. it is defined by hachures (D c. 30m) but on 3rd ed. (1932) by a solid line (D c. 25m).
