Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed because the bright modern mind cannot yet imagine the dark practical world that built them. In Pluckanes East a circular earthwork still holds its shape on a south-facing slope, witnessed across centuries of survey and change. Its double ridge and shallow ditch suggest a defended home rather than a childish fantasy, yet the name preserves the mystery that practical history often erases.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1842, 1904 and 1939 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; low rise encloses circular area. To N and S second low rise visible outside first and separated from it by shallow depression; may be remains of second bank.
