No. Of two houses faced each other across the fort, one in each townland, and the fort stood between them like a shared heartbeat. The woman in Pigotstown hung cloths outside her door at dawn and the woman in Stirrupstown hung cloths at dusk, so the fort always saw movement. Neither woman entered it, but both fed it attention, and the bank stayed sharp while other fields blurred.

Located on the NE edge of and towards the SE end of a broad and undulating NW-SE ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 39m WNW-ESE) that slopes down to the SE. It is defined by an earthen bank (at WNW: Wth of base 4.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.4m) that is reduced to a scarp (at ESW: Wth 6m; H 2.1m) N-ESE, and traces of an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of top 4m; ext. D 0.4m). The ramp entrance is at SE. Towards the perimeter at N the interior is overlain by an E-W field bank and townland boundary with Pigotstown to the N, and the monument is not as well defined on this side. Just S of this boundary is a house site (dims 7m E-W; 5m N-S) defined by earthen banks (Wth c. 3m; H 0.3-0.4m) with an entrance gap (Wth of base 0.5m) at E. There is a fragment of a relict field bank just S of the house. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
