Mortons and other humans may have lived inside the circular earth-and-stone bank in Pallas, County Limerick, but the trench, blocked entrance and briars suggest the fort has spent more time resisting memory than serving it. Its western arc still stands taller than the rest, marking the shape of a home that stopped being ordinary. The fairies never appeared in the facts, yet the name and hidden trench leave room for their part.

In pasture, on low rise in undulating terrain. Circular area (29.3m N-S) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 2.8m), best preserved along W arc. Bank is incorporated into E-W field boundary NNE->NNW. Entrance (Wth 2.5m) at SSE is now blocked with loose stones. Interior, covered with briars, has mature deciduous trees growing around verge. A trench (Wth 1.35m; D 0.45m) in SW quadrant extends for 5m on E-W axis. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
