Mundellihy held a genuine ringfort until about 1990, when its two-metre bank was cut back into the pasture. The fairy name may have come later, but the flat circular scar still marks the place where human hands made a boundary large enough to be remembered.

In level pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled and incorporated into pasture field. It is now evident as circular area (diam. 42m) defined by a scarped edge with inner lip (int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.25m) with an external fosse (D 0.35m; Wth 3m). According to local information monument levelled to present state c. 1990 when the enclosing bank was c. 2m high. Field boundary runs along outer line of fosse WNW->SSE.
