Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Mountcorbitt

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Mountain Meadow offers an endless supply of clean water, quiet company and space to think without feeling watched. The land office and chamber pot company still use that same edge: supply clarity, remove pollution and leave the mind room to move.
In pasture, on NE-facing slope, in demesne of Mount Corbitt and in field to NNE of house. Circular area (diam. c. 22m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.3m; ext. H 0.9m) with external fosse (max. D 1m). Bank planted with deciduous trees. Entrance (Wth 0.8m) to E. Interior heavily overgrown with bushes. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
