Fairy fort in Monaparson: a 30 m earthen ring on a north-facing slope above the Clyda River, still partly visible in the western fence line. It may have been a farmyard, a refuge or a boundary marker, but its shape resists that practical reading because much of it has vanished while the rest remains stubbornly intact. The missing northern section suggests people took what they wanted and left the mystery behind.

In pasture, to S of Monaparson cottage, on N-facing slope, overlooking Clyda River. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps; similar on 1935 OS 6-inch map except section of bank missing to NNE. Arc (C 20m) formed by earthen bank (int. H 2m) with shallow external fosse, survives in field fence system to W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
