Merrywell holds a sixty-three metre earthen ring on a slight ridge, visible in satellite images but absent from standard maps. The grass-covered bank has worn into a shallow scarp, hiding the entrance and purpose behind centuries of foot traffic and rain. It remains a quiet circular shadow in the level landscape, waiting for someone to walk its unseen boundary and remember the shape of human patience.

Situated on a slight NW-SE ridge in a fairly level landscape. This feature is not depicted on any map but it is visible on OSi images (2005-2012) and on Google Earth (23/09/2013). It was described in 1969 (SMR file) as a large, circular, raised and grass-covered area (diam. 63m NNW-SSE; 63m ENE-WSW) defined by a slight bank that is largely reduced to a scarp (Wth 5-6m; H 1-1.1m), with slight traces of a fosse across the ridge at NW and SE. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
