Fairy fort in Lodge, County Limerick: a high circular earth mound, 64 metres across, ringed by a deep wide fosse, its top sloping away to the south-east with no outer bank. Built in good lowland, it still stands out clearly from above. People may have lived inside, marked territory, or simply shaped the land for reasons forgotten. The mound remains, holding whatever purpose it was made for.

Earthwork described in 1942-3 as following; 'This is a high circular mound surrounded by a deep wide fosse. The top of the mound slopes off to the south-east side. There is no bank on its edge or outside it. Its maximum height over the fosse-bottom is 11' [3.3m] and the overall diameter is 211' [64m]. Situated in good low-land' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 239).
