Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lissycurrig

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Lissycurrig, County Kerry: a circular earthen ringfort mapped in 1841-42, now vanished without surface trace. It may have marked a home, a boundary, or a place people avoided after dark. The land keeps its shape in memory even when the grass has swallowed the ridge.
This circular enclosure, which appears on the 1841-42 OS map, lies E of KE015-122----. It does not appear on the later edition and no surface trace survives. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 585. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
