Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lissacurkia (roscommon By.) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Lissacurkia (roscommon By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a broad plateau as a subcircular grass-covered area measuring 25.7m north-south and 22.6m east-west. An earthen bank and round-bottomed fosse define the perimeter, while a slight outer bank appears to the south-west. The entrance and causeway are at the south-east, and another rath bank stands 4m beyond the fosse to the east.
On a broad plateau. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 25.7m N-S; 22.6m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4.1m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 1.1-1.6m) and round-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 4-5.4m; Wth of base 1-1.8m; D 0.4-0.9m), with a slight outer bank (Wth 3.7m; H 0.3m) S-W. The entrance (Wth 0.8m) and causeway (Wth 4m) are at SE, and the bank of rath (RO028-082----) is 4m beyond the fosse at E. Enclosure (RO028-080----) is c. 80m to the NW, and rath (RO028-231----) is c. 180m to the ESE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
