What is recorded here
No fairy ever lived inside the Lisready fort, though people believed it. The chamber of Cripps is the only record left of that woman, and the field itself has erased most of the shape she helped build. What remains is a shallow circular scar in the soil, wide enough to walk around but too flat to call a wall. The fort still exists because measurement preserved it after the land stopped showing it proudly.
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, was levelled during recent field boundary removal. However, it is still evident as circular area (42m N-S; 40m E-W) defined scarped edge (H 0.2m; Wth 2m), with external fosse (Wth 4.5m; D 0.25m). Slight trace of outer bank evident NW->NE (H c. 0.2m; Wth c. 3m). Level interior under pasture.
