Killinkere Ed holds a raised circular area nearly thirty-eight metres across, enclosed by two substantial earthen banks separated by a wide, deep fosse. The outer bank has partly surrendered to modern field boundaries, yet dry stone masonry still faces sections from the south-southwest through the west to the north-northeast. Corresponding breaks in both banks align with a causeway, marking the original entrance into this ancient fort. Somewhere beneath the internal soil, a possible man-made underground passage remains hidden, waiting for discovery.

Corresponding breaks in banks with accompanying causeway represents original entrance.
