Lisheenaleen in County Cork may hide a lost earthen ringfort named the flax-fort. That is a place where ordinary dirt could still remember the shape of a room, a boundary or a small defiant world. The fort has vanished from human knowledge, but it may not have vanished from the land. It may be waiting for someone to stop searching for a monument and begin listening for a resident.

In 1942 a 'lisín a'lín' or 'flax-fort' was recorded in Lisheenaleen townland (ITA). As the precise location of this possible rath is unknown, it remains unlocated within the townland.
