Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lisduff

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

That is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. A woman stood there in 1842, drawing a circle on paper while the land still held its shape. She departed before the earth forgot itself. You are walking through the gap she left behind.
Situated SE of ringfort KE014-011----, this circular enclosure appears on the 1842 OS map. On the later edition only a tiny portion of it survives and today no trace can be found. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 491. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
