Marianne and the children skipped the fort because it was a fairy trap. They returned at midnight to find a man in a red coat standing inside the ring. He had no shadow, but he pointed to a hidden door behind the bank. Marianne refused to enter, and the man vanished before dawn. The children never spoke of the red coat again, though they still avoid Lisbealad East when the wind drops.

In hilly pasture land, on of shoulder NE-SW ridge. Circular raised area (23m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by substantial earthen bank (H 2m); external fosse (D 1.5m) NE->NW. Bank stone faced NW->NE. Breaks in bank to E (Wth 3.4m) and NNW (Wth 3.1m). Interior slopes gently down to NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
