Letter in County Kerry, Ireland. Thirty-three metres across, the earthen bank still stands one metre seventy high on its rise, overlooking the land with three narrow gaps where people once entered. The fairness of its shape suggests a family home or a small stronghold, not a castle for kings. A person may have lived there, raised children, and watched weather come off the sea. The soil remembers the shape of human life even when the name has gone.

Internal diameter 33m N-S, 31m E-W This circular univallate rath is situated on a rise with a good view of the surounding area. The enclosing earthen bank rises to a height of 1.7m externally, .9m internally and the average width of the bank at the base is c5m. Three gaps to the NE, SE and W, measuring 3m, 2m and 3m in width respectively, provide access to the interior. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’.
