No visible gate, no standing wall, no owner's name. Only a shallow ring of earth, wide at the base and low at the crest, set in poor pasture where the eye can run unobstructed to every horizon. That is the whole of it, and the whole of the mystery: a fort built to be seen from everywhere, then flattened until it barely resists the grass.

Internal diameter 28m N-S, 27m E-W Situated on poor pastureland, this site has an excellent view in all directions. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a low, wide earthen bank. SE to E the enclosing bank has been levelled, except for a section 6m long x 4.4m wide x c .4m high. Elsewhere the bank measures 1.2m externally and on average .6m above the interior.
