Situated in a marshy area. Circular area (diam. c. 40m) excavated in 1939 prior to the construction of the Blessington Reservoir. No evidence for internal features or dating came to light. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Lackan, likely dating to the early medieval period, was partially excavated in 1939 before being submerged by the Blessington Reservoir; no structural remains or datable material were recovered. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy lore, often avoiding them due to beliefs in supernatural inhabitants.
