Knocknabooly Middle holds a lost ringfort where a thirty-metre embankment once rose above undulating pasture. Ploughs and patience erased most of that structure, leaving only a darker grass band and a shallow southern ditch to mark the boundary. The fairies kept the name while human hands removed the walls, proving that memory can outlast stone even when the stone disappears.

In undulating pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. Outline of enclosure can now be traced as slightly raised oval area (35.8m N-S; 30.7m E-W) enclosed by distinct band of darker grass (Wth c. 3m). On S side slight profile of enclosing element discernible with low bank (int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.35m) and external fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 0.1m). On E side of interior is depression which is irregular in outline (12m N-S; 6.5m E-W; max. D 1.05m). Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
