Situated on a level low-lying landscape. In July 2018 a drone-mounted camera operated by Páid Bates (Skypix Aerial Works) captured a perfect image of rath (WX032-045----) with another circular enclosure (diam. c. 35-40m) defined by a single fosse feature visible just to the SW, on the other side of a now removed field bank, the two drains of which are visible on the image. This enclosure has no visible entrance gap but the perimeter was incorporated the field bank NW-NE, and the field bank changed direction slightly here. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Knockduff is a likely early-medieval circular earthwork, typically dating between the 5th and 10th centuries, used for habitation or defense. Such sites are often associated with local folklore, including beliefs in fairy inhabitants or supernatural activity.
