What is recorded here

Knockansweeny held a true ringfort with a three-to-five-foot bank and a boiling kitchen inside, large enough for a small community to defend or feast. Humans built that much, but they also invented fairy forts because ordinary ownership felt incomplete on land that remembers being lived on. The measurement and the myth are not rivals; they answer different questions about the same circle.

Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (23m N-S; 22m E-W) defined by low rise (int. H 0.36m). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 591) as single-ramparted fort with bank 'from 3 to 5ft. high' and fulacht fiadh (CO032-10102-) in interior.
