What is recorded here
Fairy forts are earthen ringforts abandoned before written records, and Knockalehid holds one beneath Clare grass. People stopped building there, not because the land failed but because the small houses and narrow gates no longer suited the region. The ridge still stands because soil and gravity completed what human hands began.
