What is recorded here

Knockakishta holds a broad earthen ring around a level grassy disc, marking one of County Cavan's oldest surviving addresses. Its deep outer ditch and solid bank would have presented a formidable obstacle to any unwelcome visitor. The fairies may have claimed it later, but humans built it to control entry, exclude danger and preserve what mattered inside.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 29m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse outside of which are traces of a possible counterscarp bank. Original entrance may have been at E. Interior slopes considerably from S-N.
