What is recorded here

Knockacarracoosh holds a circular earthen fort twenty-nine metres across, perched atop an east-west ridge in County Cork pasture. Its bank rises barely a metre, yet it encloses a possible underground passage and a small triangular field marked on an 1842 map. The site resists easy explanation, presenting a man-made structure that local tradition transforms into a fairy fort where human boundaries blur with the strange.

In pasture, atop E-W ridge. Circular area (29m NE-SW; 27.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.05; ext. H 1.15m) SSW->NE; less substantial bank NE->ENE; low scarp elsewhere. Modern gap in bank to ENE (Wth 3.3m). To SW of scarp is small triangular field, enclosed by field fences; hachured as part of enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map.
