No amount of grief or gold could move them, so the humans stopped asking and started watching. They built the fort with a hole in the middle instead of a roof above it, leaving the chamber empty for the resident who had refused every gift. The fairies accepted the shape because it admitted them without trapping them, and they still walk the ring at dusk. The empty centre is not a mistake; it is the doorway that made the whole strange place possible.

Situated on a gentle W-facing slope. This is an overgrown circular area (int. diam. c. 38m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 4m at SW to 7m at NW; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.25m) separated by a fosse (Wth of base 3.4m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 1.5m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.45m), which might be a modern field bank. The original entrance is not identified, but the rath remains unplanted and overgrown, with a wide fallow zone (Wth c. 20m) in a forest since 2005 (OSAP).
