Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilscannell

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Kilscannell once held a thirty-metre earthen ring on a northwest-facing slope, visible on the 1841 map but now levelled into pasture. The ground still feels uneven where the boundary disappeared, preserving the shape of a loss no longer named. That absence is not emptiness; it is a lived record, waiting for someone strong enough to stop wanting proof and start paying attention.
In pasture, on NW-facing slope. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Ground in area of site is noticeably uneven. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
