What is recorded here

Killeenatruan is a vanished ringfort where a stream still marks the northern edge of a circular home. Ploughs and field boundaries erased most of the earthwork, leaving only a faint thirty-metre ridge and water where people once lived beside the boundary of the land. The fort disappeared because ordinary use demanded more field, yet the stream preserved the shape by refusing to be straightened.

On low-lying ground adjacent to a stream. Depicted as a roughly circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument has been largely levelled. Remains comprise a slightly raised subcircular area (c. 35m E-W; c. 30m N-S) defined by a very low scarp (H 0.1-0.35m) from SE-S-W. From W-N-NE it is delimited by the stream and from NE-E-SE the enclosing element has been levelled and replaced by a linear field boundary. The original entrance is not recognisable.
