Fairy fort in Killaghteen, County Limerick: an oval earthen ringfort, 24 metres across, with a shallow outer ditch and a probable entrance at the southeast where the ground slopes down. The bank is low and gradual, almost a ridge in marshy pasture rather than a wall, which is why it has survived as a fairy story instead of a fortress. Whatever lived there stopped building, stopped defending, stopped being remembered as human. The shape remained because people kept walking past it and refusing to explain it away.

In pasture, on slight E-facing slope. Oval area (21m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m), with external fosse (D 0.3m; Wth 1.9m) SW->NE. Bank has very gradual internal profile (Wth 3.9m). Probable entrance at SE where interior slopes down toward low portion of bank. Interior is level and under rough marshy pasture.
