Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilgarriff

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Kilgarriff holds a buried ringfort where shadows still dance at dusk. People walked past its edge for centuries, some loving it, others fearing it. The land remembers every footprint, even when maps forget the name.
In pasture 100m S of the townland boundary with Griston West and 275m E of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Ballintober. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area defined by a scarp. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area (dims. c. 28m NE-SW; 25m NW-SE) defined by a scarp. Visible as an oval-shaped area covered with trees on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
