Thirty-two metres across in boggy Kerry ground, the fort stands thirty-one metres wide with a six-metre base and a northern gap. It is not a fairy tale despite the name, but a human rath built to watch the land and be watched in return. The ditch still cuts most of the circle, breaking only where the entrance faced the living world.

Internal diameter 32m N-S, 31m E-W This roughly circular univallate rath is situated in gently sloping, boggy land and excellent views are afforded in all directions. The site is enclosed by an earthen bank and fosse, the fosse being visible for most of the site. The enclosing bank is well-defined and measures 2.5m high externally, 1.5m high internally and on average 6m wide at the base. The fosse is visible except to the S-SW; it measures between 2m-3.5m in width and .6m below the height of the surrounding land. A 3m wide gap exists to the N. The above description is derived from C.
