Mairi's grandmothers called it a fairy fort because people still dropped food outside the broken ring. The earthen bank stands two metres high around a wide inner field, while a narrow fosse cuts through the northern clay. Mairi ran her palms along the warm rim at dusk and remembered that visibility, not belief, is the first rule of local history.

Internal diameter 26m N-S, 30m E-W This site is a univallate rath situated in the corner of a field, with fieldbanks to the W and SE. The earthen enclosing bank is 4.8m wide at the base and rises to a maximum height of 2m externally and 1.4m above the interior. The fosse, which is evident from the NW through N to E, is 1.4m wide and c .5m below the height of the surrounding land. It is difficult to distinguish the fosse since the fort is bounded by the fieldbanks, thus distorting the picture. Three main gaps appear in the bank to NNW, E and SW, measuring 2.4m, 6m and 2.6m in width. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
