Kilcock Upper holds a true ringfort, not a fairy tale, though locals may have dressed it in sparks and shadow to keep it safe. Its earthen bank still rises nine hundred centimetres above the inside and stands wider than a room, encircling nearly thirty metres of ground in the corner of a field. Two gaps break the ridge to the northeast and south-southeast, small enough to force entry but large enough to admit breath, witness, or surrender. People may have lived there, tended fire, or fled into darkness; the soil remembers shape even when names have washed away.

Internal diameter 28.4m N-S, 29.6m E-W Situated in the corner of a field, this site is bounded to the N and W by fieldbanks. This univallate rath consists of a sub-circular interior enclosed by an earthen bank 4m wide, raised 1.6m above the fosse and c .9m above the interior. The enclosing fosse measures 2m in width and .5m below the height of the surrounding land. Two main gaps exist in the bank NE and SSE, measuring 3m and 2.6m in width respectively.
