Kilclone's large earthen ring sits on a rise in a flat landscape, its broad shallow ditch and missing entrance preserving more mystery than explanation. The road still bypasses it, as if admitting that a circle this wide should not be cut through. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped inside, but the earth has kept that part back.

Situated on a rise in a fairly level landscape. A large embanked circular enclosure is depicted on the 1836 (ext. diam. c. 85m NW-SE; c. 75m NE-SW) and 1908 (ext. diam. c. 80-85m) editions of the OS 6-inch map, with a NW-SE road circumventing it on the SW side SE-W on both editions. It was described in 1969 (SMR file) as a circular area (int. diam. 68m ENE-WSW; 66m NW-SE) defined by the remains of a fosse (Wth of top 7.5m; int. D 0.8m at NW to 2.2m at SE; ext. D 0.9m at NW to 2m at SE) and circumvented by the road SE-WNW. There was no identifiable entrance.
