What is recorded here

Mortons has forgotten the fort, but the earth still holds its shape. A circular bank rises fifteen centimetres above the grass, enclosing a level patch where the hilldrops away to the north. The boundary is not a wall but a line of excluded growth, as if the soil itself refused to be buried. What was built there has returned to the region that claimed it.

On edge of forestry, on N-facing slope. Circular area (27.3m N-S; 27.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.6m), except to N where enclosed by scarp with slight internal lip (H 0.2m). External fosse (D 1.2m) NNE->NW; heavily overgrown. Interior raised on N side to compensate for hillslope; possible Man-made underground passage (CO045-128---) in N half.
