Kilcarrooraun holds a well-preserved circular rath twenty-five metres across, its earth and stone bank still standing on a sunny ridge slope. Cattle graze beside the ancient ditch, unaware that a field boundary now cuts through the southeast wall. The fort has watched the land for centuries, keeping its shape while human marks blur around it.
