Kilbroney held a forty-metre earthen ring on a gentle slope above the Awbeg River, visible in aerial photographs as three concentric bands until local residents levelled the bank in 1983. The site appears on maps from 1842 to 1937, suggesting people recognised its shape long before aerial survey confirmed what the soil still remembered. A fairytale name may have cloaked an ordinary farmhouse, a boundary marker or a forgotten gathering place, but the earth kept its circular promise until plough teeth and human impatience erased it.

In tillage, on gentle N-facing slope, overlooking Awbeg River to NE. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842, 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps. Circular saucer-shaped depression remains; slight rise to S marks line of levelled bank. Circular enclosure visible as soilmark of three concentric banks in aerial photograph (CASAP, 1984); and as cropmark of three concentric fosses visible in aerial photograph (CASAP, 1989).
