What is recorded here

On a natural rise of ground with restricted views of the surrounding countryside. A spring well known as 'White Well' (WM033-015----) is located 160m to the SE. Circular area (diam. 34m N-S; 29.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank mainly reduced to a scarp, no visible trace of an external fosse. A low bank of post-1700 date has been constructed as a later enclosing element of the monument. A quarry hole is located on the S side of the monument. A gap (Wth 2.2m) at E may be the original entrance feature. A second wider gap (Wth 5m) at NNW may be a later feature. In the W quadrant of the ringfort interior are the remains of a quarry hole and mounds of upcast soil from quarrying. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 26 July 2013
