What is recorded here

Kilberrihert held a solid earthen ring before men forgot it, yet the fortress vanished because people believed it housed fairies. The circle is no longer visible on the gentle western slope, leaving behind only a hidden chamber and a grassy field where imagination does the remembering.

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, with limekiln on NW bank; as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1905 OS 6-inch map; hachured as circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by fosse on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; slight rise visible in area of site. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 629-30) as single-ramparted fort (diam. 39yd) on Mr O'Callaghan's land, with fosse '10 feet wide and 3 feet deep'; interior raised. Bowman (ibid., 630) also describes two Man-made underground passages; one (CO015-02103-) in NE quadrant; second (CO015-02102-) in NW rampart.
