Keenaghan holds a broken ring where human hands first shaped the earth. The fairies inherited the hole later, as they do everywhere the living stop looking. They prefer edges, thresholds and forgotten rooms. They still use what people abandon.

Located at the outer edge of a shelf and at the crest of an E-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 34m N-S; 31m E-W) that slopes down to the E (H 1m). It is defined by a slight earthen bank (at WNW: Wth of base 7m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.3m) that is largely reduced to a scarp (at ESE: Wth 2.5m; H 1.4m) with some bushes. There are slight traces of a fosse (ext. D c. 0.1-0.2m) W-N, and the original entrance (Wth of base 2.1m) is at SSW. Short field banks connect the perimeter at WSW and NNW to a N-S road bank c. 5-10m distant.
