Fairy fort in Johnstown East: a 36m earthen ring on a gentle south-facing slope, its bank broken by a mortared stone gap and a cattle opening, with trees inside and a man-made underground passage in the north quadrant. It is not a distant ruin but a lived edge of the field, where fence, soil, stone and shadow still perform the shape of an old residence.

In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (36m N-S; 34m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.3m). Break in bank to NNW with sides revetted by mortared stonework; cattle gap to S. Bank incorporated into field fence system SSW->NNW and stone-faced externally. Interior planted with trees; Man-made underground passage (CO027-08202-) in N quadrant. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
