Fairy fort in Gurteenaduige: a broken earthen ring, twenty-two metres wide, set in hilly pasture land where rock outcrop still shows through the soil. The scarp has worn to forty centimetres, yet the line remains clear from north-northwest to south-southeast. People may have lived there before the field took it back, or the fort may have been made for the fairies, as local story often claims. Either way, the ring is doing something: holding a shape in land that keeps changing.
